To implement BVI's financial market data initiatives on a global level, BVI has been a key contributor to a position paper by EFAMA and the brokers' association ICSA on benchmark licensing costs in the financial industry. The position paper makes a number of recommendations to ensure that benchmark data is made available to users (e.g., KVGs) at reasonable prices and terms in the future. The associations call on regulators and supervisors (including IOSCO, EU Commission, ESMA, BMF, BaFin) to take steps to restore competition in the index business and thus create fair and transparent licensing terms and prices.
