Germany bids to host the new Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA)

Thomas Richter, CEO of BVI:

„By rationally grouping authorities in one location, the EU can promote close interaction between all the parties involved and also save costs. Frankfurt is an international banking centre and European regulatory hub. With ECB banking supervision and with EIOPA, two EU supervisory authorities are already located in Frankfurt which, taken together, are responsible for a large part of the financial sector. Frankfurt thus offers an excellent structural environment for the location of the AMLA, which is set to directly supervise important financial institutions in the EU and promote coordination between the EU supervisory authorities."

The German ministry of Finance has a new website for this purpose.
